Adjusting front camber on Tuscan mk1

Thought I'd share how I adjusted my front camber after changing some upper suspension bushes. This is by no means an exhaustive how-to but hopefully gives people some info that might be useful. I was lucky that my garage floor was flat where my front tyres sat and I didn't mess around with my front shock settings. I simply wanted to get my mk1 Tuscan back to factory camber settings - well as close as possible.

My car has the gaz golds fitted along with the 5mm steering rack spacer lift and max castor with the spacers. I was aiming for -0.75 degrees left and right.

I used a digital spirit level (cheapish Heupar AG01 accuracy +/- 0.1 degrees) applied to the brake disc to measure the camber. The passenger side gave the correct camber at full outward travel along the upper suspension arm which was convenient.



I found with the upper pinch bolts loosened off a touch a large screwdriver wedged as below reduced my camber.




To increase camber I found I could gently tap the upper ball joint inward with a piece of wood and a hammer. A few mm makes a sizeable difference.



I put a couple of wheel nuts back on to hold the disc firm while taking relative measurements. No wheel nuts in place in the pic below.



The camber measurement was obviously different with the car in the air and the wheels off as compared on the floor with wheels on. I had to roll the car up and down the garage a few times to let the suspension settle to take a camber reading.

Then adjust as necessary. Again and again.

I bit of a faff but it worked. The car is now back on the road and drives really well. Checked after 50 miles or so and the readings are still the same. Job ticked off.
