Really got into this recently it’s great I know it’s a bit niche but fingers crossed there are others on PH !

I have an Ambernic RG35xx h that I take out and about and my Steamdeck at home.

Trouble is the RG35xx h screen is a little too small for my aging eyes apart from that it’s a great little machine !

So I’m looking for something with perhaps a little more grunt and a larger screen but is still portable.

The main contender is the Ambernic RG557 which seems like a nice halfway house between the Deck and the RG35.

I’ve been watching videos but would be nice to hear from someone who has actually use of mid size machine.

Surely the steam deck fits your needs for all purposes.

I’ll report back when mine gets delivered (R36S??)! Some friends were chatting about them, one order a ‘pre loaded’ one from amazon, the other bought direct/ blank from aliexpress and loaded games etc…. himself

I’m not a gamer, but quite fancied playing some older games, so giving it a go to see if it’s any fun!

Steam Deck is superb I have Bratocera running from a 1tb Samsung T7.

Like I said the problem is portability … I can’t take the Steam Deck on hols and sit by the pool with it. The RG35XX H is great but the screen is a little small for my eyes.

I’m after something that has a slightly larger screen but is still portable like I said in my OP !

Oh I read the title and thought the title was a euphemism for something else.

I bought a 2nd hand Sony PSVita for emulation of games. Fairly easy to homebrew and get a load of games working on it. The battery lasts forever and the screen is lovely and touchscreen. Dirt cheap to buy 2nd hand too.

I have a Retroid Pocket 5 which I absolutely love.

However, you have to pay attention to the ergonomics with these devices and their manufacturers don't seem to give it much thought.

The Pocket 5 is only really comfortable for long session with a pair of extended grips bought of etsy. Most of these devices have such aftermarket things available.

For me, I got as much fun building a collection of roms and bioses and configuring the thing, than I now get out of using it.
