Austin A30 Fuel pump
Discussion
Fathers friend has one of these with i think a 1098 A series engine in it, utilises an electric SU fuel pump situated at the rear of the car.
He is having some issues with it and not knowing a lot about them thought id ask here.
He is not very hands on so either myself or my father will help with it but i just wondered is it worth sticking with it or fitting something more maintenance free.
I understand they are very reliable pumps and need a little maintenance to keep going, i also see an electronic conversion available which may be a good option for him.
May just need a stripdown and points clean?
Any advice on what to do with it?

If original you may get away with cleaning or renewing the points.

They also do an electronic conversion, which is said to be good.

I may look into a small facet pump as i found out last night the existing su is a solid state unit so no points to check/clean.
The facet posi flow pumps look adequate really.
Sounds like a good plan, just make sure it doesnt flow too much and overwhelm the return or floats in the carb. Some of those facet pumps do flow alot of fuel. But im sure they do one that would work fine. The facet posi flow pumps look adequate really.
