We’re back in Europe for the Emilia Romagna GP (or Imola, to you and me).

It’s a fast, challenging and narrow circuit, and Pirelli is spicing things up with a supersoft tyre- the C6. All this should favour McLaren, after its demolition of the field in Miami.

Lots of focus will be on Alpine this weekend, both for Colapinto’s debut and for Oliver Oakes’ sudden holiday in Dubai.

My money will be on Norris- he was the quicker McLaren in Miami and perhaps he’s beginning to understand the car.

Here’s to a great race.

Date(s): Friday 16 May to Sunday 18 May 2025.

UK Broadcast Timings (and track time)

All sessions are live on Sky F1. Channel 4 is showing highlights of Qualifying and the Race.

Thanks for starting the thread as always PiaP!

At last f1 comes home to Europe.

I’ve voted for Kimi because he has to get a win soon surely.

I’m hoping for a re run of the LEGO drivers parade…

If McLaren have got a way of cooling the tyres, as said above, that super soft could give them a further advantage, though with the location, Ferrari may turn everything up for the glory.

Another Piastri win I think. He's got the mentality needed to be a champion, something I feel Lando lacks. Sad as I am a fan of his and would like to see him do it.

Agree Lando needs to stop making mistakes otherwise Piastri is long gone. Surprised Hamilton has got a vote after the last few races!

He's got 2 votes already. I guess some people live in the past.

Thanks PiaP smile

If they run the Lego again, I wonder if the RBR can be fitted with a baby seat.

More McLaren domination expected this weekend.

Lots of teams bringing upgrades to Imola, will be interesting to see if they affect the order of the cars in any meaningful way.

I suspect most teams will pretty much give up developing this year’s car by the end of this month, moving most of the design effort to next year’s new regulations.

Ferrari to take a tactical new engine they can turn up to 11 for the home crowd?

Let's hope it's a Lando race like Miami would have been if it wasn't for Max and his "race-craft." (Have they released the footage from his car yet)

Thanks PiaP beer

I'm going for a Norris win. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet. His biggest weakness is himself and I think once he's got to grips with that he'll be in a better place.

One of the Ferraris on the podium would be a great result for the team. As much as I'd like LH to win, I just can't see that happening until he gets to grip with the car and the strategy team lose the bright curly wigs and large floppy shoes.

No doubt Williams will be looking to hover up some more points. The performance to date has being very impressive. It's been a real joy this season watching the Maccas and especially the Williams. How long until one of the latter is on the podium will be a race too late.

I’d love to see Carlos notch up his first win before Ferrari do in a GP this season

I would love to see Lewis win this but I know it will be Piastri.

I remember seeing on ‘Drive to Survive’ a few years ago, Lando hinting Ricardo, (probably not wrong) was past his best.

I recall thinking, things said in F1 often have a habit of coming back to bite you. IMO as long as he has Piastri as a team mate, he has no chance of becoming WDC.

As much as I would like to see a Ferrari/Lewis win, reality is more likely to be Piastri for a win, so that’s my vote.

Like others, I would like to add my thanks to Mr. Poke for the thread, an excellent resource.

I can also recall Norris saying to LH about him having the fastest car for x amount of years. Which way does Norris walk to avoid the eggshells? angel

Yeah, Lando has come across as rather petulant at times.

I remember that, I think it was in the cool down room after the Spanish procession race and it struck me as a slightly bhy remark too.

Lewis has often shown good grace and praised other drivers after close racing, Lando just comes across as a petulant brat at times. I'm finding that like him less and less as time goes on.

Yep, that's my top three too, maybe Oscar, Max, then George.

I'm really impressed with George this season, he's just putting the work in without making a fuss. Not sure he has a championship win in him though frown

Edit: thanks for the thread PiaP, always enjoy these and the (mostly) fun and interesting posts.
