2025 AMG GT - Euro cruiser for couple & dog?
Discussion
I read the PH article on the 55 yesterday and hadn’t realised that this is now a 2+2 with quite a big boot space especially with the back seats folded.
I’ve never quite found the right car that my wife and I could both be happy with for Euro trips with our cockapoo. They’re either too cramped in the back seats for the dog (911, Cali T) or just not very exciting (Macan, Taycan).
I went to look at an AMG GT today and I think it works as the right mix of looks, space, comfort and driving excitement.
Not so good is the fuel efficient and relatively small fuel tank. Interior is fine for me, liked the standard seats and can probably live with the massive screen. Price is a concern and I’m surprised there’s not a single used 63 on the market??
Does anyone have one? How are you finding it?
I’m test driving one (63) next week with my wife and dog so will see how it goes.

Historically there are two separate models, the AMG GT which is strictly a 2-seater and the AMG GT63 which is a 4 seater with 4 doors. I do not know about the new current models.
I would also say the 75L tank is not exactly small. The stated consumption is 30 mpg which would give a range of 450-500 miles. Motorway cruising would likely see more than that.
Autotrader appears to have over 30 of the AMG GT63 models listed, search for AMG GT then select number of seats or doors as 4/5.

I wouldn't drive with any unrestrained dog or unless it is securely contained behind fixed rear seats. Say 25k of cockapoo hitting the back of your headrest at 30mph would take your head through the windscreen with it. Ask your Mrs to throw a 1kg bag of sugar at your head to get the gist.
E63 or c63 estates for me with mesh guard for the hound.

OP is referring to the new model which is more a 'new SL' than the old GT.I would also say the 75L tank is not exactly small. The stated consumption is 30 mpg which would give a range of 450-500 miles. Motorway cruising would likely see more than that.

I would raise depreciation on them as it is massive at present and also as another poster has mentioned, how will you secure your dog?

Depreciation is a concern and without even asking was told there would be £26k off the list price. Would need more than that though.
It’s definitely a GT car rather than a sports car. In sports+ mode it felt more sprightly.
