Breakfast to go
Discussion
It seems that I am now tasked daily with making breakfast for my children, that can be eaten in the car.
Overnight oats and porridge feature highly in my repertoire.
Can anyone suggest any other healthy car breakfasts, ideally that can be pulled from the fridge and eaten cold? Bircher muesli is on my list to do already.
Many thanks.
Omelette and cheese wrap is my usual breakfast with a good smear of mustard. Made fresh and eaten on the walk to work. Healthy, high protein and fairly low carb depending on the wrap. Very satiating and will see me through the day without snacking. Should be quite reasonable out the fridge if made in advance.
PH'er allowing people to eat in thier car
Make the lazy blighters get up 5 minutes earlier so they can have breakfast before they leave
The Breakfast Rolls from Paul Hollywood's "How to bake" book are really good and last a couple of days, but do take some effort to make. Basically bacon mushroom and tomato sauce baked in to an enriched dough

omelette wrap, can add extras like cheese tomatoes if the little ones will eat them and ham. Oat bar/bake, can batch make it, toasties can be filled with beans and stuff.
Breakfast muffins, make loads on a sunday and whack them in the freezer, 45 seconds on full blast and they are really, just like the McD's version.

Some of these suggestions, whilst welcome, seem a bit...light.
Currently I am making them 80g of oats, milk, whole babana, walnuts, drizzle of honey and maybe some dark chocolate buttons. It's quite a substantial meal.
It is a substantial meal, which begs the question, why on earth are they eating it in the car, and not sat at the table at home?Currently I am making them 80g of oats, milk, whole babana, walnuts, drizzle of honey and maybe some dark chocolate buttons. It's quite a substantial meal.
Do they seriously sit in the car eating out of breakfast bowls with spoons?
My son is 31 years old now, when he was 6 I made the fatal error of allowing him to eat a sausage roll in the car, got to the end of the journey and he and my car looked as if it had been in an explosion in a pastry factory whilst all the car windows were open, never ever allowed him to eat in my car again, a few years ago he sent me a picture of the front seat of his car after he'd allowed his GF to eat her lunch whilst she was a passenger, he was bloody fuming and had to have it valeted to clean it up afterwards, he now has the same rule as I have for him!!

Some of the cars I repair have so much food scattered around that you would be left wondering if any of it ever made it to their mouths
.
I say get them up earlier and feed them at the table like civilised people.
They have to go 24 miles to school. That would be quite an early start.

Depends on serving size surely. I have 5 eggs in an omelette, with cheese and It's plenty for me as an adult. The egg muffins sound interesting, but I wouldn't have just one of them
Kids will (should) eat less than I do, so adjust accordingly.
