Jag XJ (351) stereo connection?
Discussion
My phone connects ok via BT, but can occasionally skip briefly, was thinking the USB connection might provide a more reliable alternative, will likely replace it with an Android unit as the nav is rubbish and no Carplay but for now will try all options.
I plugged my Iphone 16 Pro into the socket in the centre console, it charges but says device not connected or something, anyone got an iphone connected via a cable like that to an X351 ?

From memory I could connect my 13 to CarPlay in the car without a problem just using a usb to lightning connector this was using the CarPlay which was already in the car.
When apple went to usbc the usba to usbc cable because less reliable and and lower charge levels would connect and disconnect all the time so I changed to a wireless dongle plugged into one usba and a wireless charger in the other usba
since then the jaguar apple play had been fine and everything works, I can't comment on android

Another Invery user here, but in my 2009 XK. Quicker and less obvious than a full stereo out job, but still retains the use of the steering wheel buttons. I can't make up my mind about the jagdroid solution, videos I've seen of it look like you're effectively running two head units out of one screen, and have to juggle them depending on if you want to use your HVAC/heated seats/trip computer or your stereo. Not the elegant solution I'd hoped for. But then I've heard the newer versions are less of a hassle.
Consequently I've stayed OEM+ and gone with the Ipod dongle solution, the car looks standard, but has added functionality behind the scenes.

They look pretty good to be fair, usually just a hotkey to switch back and forth.
I think I may order one in the next week or two, just doing my research so as not to order the wrong one, Mostly from Aliexpress, which is fine as have used them before. Need to work out from all the options what is required, they have options for rom and ram.
Have fitted a couple of these before so pretty comfortable with it, no cutting or soldering, which I am ok at but its plug and play, one does look liek you need to remove a board from the existing set up.
I suspect most are the same unit but its hard to tell, Aliexpress seems to be designed to sell stuff and induce migraines.
Put one in my Merc CLS years ago, that worked pretty well, can only image they are a lot better nowadays, for £400 or so it seems like a good option, the built in Nav is hopeless, wasnt that great when new, comical now.

It is a bit of a minefield, I've been thinking about putting one in my X351 for a while now but the options seem endless and prices vary from £150 to hundreds.
I'll be interested to see what you go for.

Jesus, that just someone took offence to your Jag ?Weird if its some kind of jealousy thing, there are plenty of more expensive cars than an XJ.

They seemed to take offence at us parking there (you know, a road) and left this delightful note too:

Being a Jag might not have helped, but who knows?
Ironically it is actually free parking and we only parked there because someone had blocked our driveway. I didn't key their car because I'm not a tool.

People can be weird, I parked on an abandoned industrial estate, it was six pm on a Friday and nobody about, there was a sign to not block a drive, I didn’t and came back and someone had put their knee into the front wing and left a right dent. Being a Jag might not have helped, but who knows?

Some very angry people about, see the comments about things on social media, so damaging a car is just something they do and then forget about.

Yes, that does seem to be the problem, something as petty as a car being left in front of your house for a few hours means that you feel justified in causing hundreds of pounds of damage. There are tw@ts everywhere....Some very angry people about, see the comments about things on social media, so damaging a car is just something they do and then forget about.
I was thinking about one of these, but I'm not sure what the difference is between this and the more expensive options: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008412196459.h...
