Everest Base Camp Trek & Gokyo / Cho La Pass
Discussion
Anyone done it ?
How difficult is it ?
I'm thinking of going end September.
Am pretty fit - running 10km three times a week as well as cycling 60-80km once a week in the summer - but never hiked / trekked.
Sure I've walked through forests and hills before - but not 6-7 hours a day at high altitude.
Living in the Netherlands, trekking over hills is not really a thing. Sure there are some hills around Maastricht but thats 250km from where I live and I think the highest hill is 300m.
I understand that you have to acclimatise well and that altitude can effect everyone differently. I would be going with a local tour company and only need a day pack for myself.
Last year I was skiing in Colorado at 3,200 meters with no real ill effects.
But I do worry about the difficulty and altitude. So would appreciate feedback from others who have done it.
Thanks in advance
