Hi there,

I am considering a job offer on a 10 year project working in Egypt.

I've not posted in the Jobs & Employment section because my enquiry isn't based on employment (as I'll be on a ship and working for a Dutch company) but more centred around things like best mobile phone provider to use whilst in country and travelling from Heathrow to Dakhalia and Alexandia and back once every 3 weeks.

Flights and transfer costs are borne by my employer, as are hotels and incidental costs. But would you for instance take the less conveniently timed British Airways flight over the more conveniently timed Egypt Air flight? Which hotel at Cairo International is the one to avoid at all costs? Any absolute gems of restaurants in Cairo or Dakhalia & Alexandria are worth checking out.

Thanks in advance.

Vodafone or WE Telecom offer the most widespread coverage and strongest 4G services. Get an Egyptian eSIM or local SIM (Vodafone/WE networks).

BA if you prioritise reliability...and safety

Le Meridien (connected to Terminal 3)

Khufu's - Egyptian fine dining
Abou Tarek - Best koshary
White & Blue (Greek Club) - Great seafood

Yes, I was there not that long ago and it was very decent. The views of the Pyramids from the grounds of that hotel are breathtaking, it's about an hour away from central Cairo though.

For our holiday we just got a sim from the Vodaphone shop. Swap it out and it worked like a charm.

Hotels etc no idea I am afraid I only went to Cairo for a day trip.... But there is a hotel we went to for food that overlooks the Pyramids, I'd stay there if I was you !

That sounds like the Meena Marriot, the views from there are indeed spectacular.
