TV via the internet - LG?
Discussion
Where I live the TV aerial isn't the best, and while my old FreeSat box usually did okay getting a signal, the new TV doesn't seem to have the same enthusiasm for FreeSat signals. In a world where everything is streamed, surely it must be possible to stream BBC/ITV/C4 and all the other channels in the same way as you pick from a guide list instead of going through each individual app every time. LG even list many IP channels on the list, but not "regular" TV channels, if that makes sense? There must be a more 2025 solution than plugging the old FreeSat box in via HDMI.

None that I've found sadly. LG have apps for Iplayer, ITV X, Channel 4 & 5 but not a single interface for them nor do each of those apps work in the same way. I ended up with Sky Stream.
I haven't used it in years but isn't this what Freeview Play does?

The Amazon Fire Stick also has a traditional TV guide interface, showing you what's on now and letting you launch the respective app. These things are never as quick as flicking through channels used to be, but it's otherwise similar to a traditional TV guide.

Freely is exactly this, but they've locked it to certain TVs for now. When it becomes a standalone app it will be a game changer.
Problem with freely is you still need an aerial for local channels, plus some channel's quality of picture is better with an aerial than it is over internet, plus their interface is rubbish. I uninstalled freely. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
