Heathrow Piccadilly to Elizabeth line transfer - free?
Discussion
Not able to find a clear answer on this one. Is transfer between the Piccadilly line and Elizabeth line at Heathrow free? Or does it attract the Heathrow upcharge?
Real world scenario; if I take the piccadilly line from Hatton Cross (Z4) to Heathrow and transfer over to the Elizabeth line, then head into zone 1, do I have to pay the Elizabeth Line Heathrow upcharge, or just standard Z4 ticket? Do you stay "within the system" at Heathrow, or do you have to tap out/in to get between the Piccadilly and Elizabeth lines?

I’m not knowledgeable in this but,
I used the “maps” app on my iPhone to suggest routes to me when I was down in London & was amazed how cheap some were.
Putting in the parameters for Hatton Cross to Paddington & selecting public transport it generates options.
Shows as free transfer…

I stand corrected - my only recent experience was going from Heathrow to zone 1 (via Piccadilly & district not Elizabeth) & it was only a few pounds - if OP’s looking to save cash that might be a suggestion
Yes that is the cheapest option to use the Picadilly line but it is much longer time wise. However if you’re looking to save money and time it’s useful to consider what other journeys you will make that day as the Elizabeth line farewell will also count towards your daily cap so that journey alone will get you past the cap at weekends or near to it other days. Once you’re in central London then all your other journeys will be free once at the cap //j17 said:

In your scenario you would not pay anything to go Hatton Cross to Heathrow stations as it is in the free fares zone.
Cool. I knew you could tranfer between terminals for free but didn't realise the free zone went out to Hatton Cross.Gassing Station | London | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
