There's a 20A fuse for the heater blower fan. If this pops, the whole dash goes down. It's fuse 14 on my car.

It's one of the fuses under the dash on the passenger side.

There's a push button under the dash, left side of steering column, above knee, which turns on/off the dash lights. Can't recall whether all years had them.

I popped mine out, took the spade connectors off the back and put a bridging wire in.
Then pushed the button back in. Easy to revert.

I’ve heard of someone turning off the dash lights for kicking down country roads in the dark, but hey.

They share a ground which is the one on the o/s of the transmission tunnel so i would check for voltage at the gauges/lamps first with a known good battery ground and go from there.
