Random beard bald patch
Discussion
Having gone bald, I’ve taken solace in the whole ‘go bald, grow a beard’ to mitigate matters. However, a small bald patch about half the size of a 5p coin has appeared on my chin, effectively ruining the beard.
It’s been there about a month or two now with no signs of the hair growing back. There was no spot or any obvious cause.
What caused this? Will it grow back?

I've got alopecia.
It started exactly the same as that. A small smooth patch in my beard.
It's an autoimmune disease with no known cause or cure. Alot of people say stress although it has never been proved.
There are different types but sounds like allopecia areata.
I've lost all hair on my head, beard, hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, the lot.
There are things you can buy such as steroid creams etc, some people claim success, others say not.

I had alopecia, started in my beard too, ended up with a few patches on the head that would occasionally fill in and move to a different place, definitely stress related for me, after removing the stress factor, all has returned and I have a beard and a full head of hair, although getting a bit of a swans nest starting at the crown :-(
