We are soon getting an electric car, we are with Octopus with a standard tariff currently so will be looking to swap to an EV friendly one soon. We have an electrician that can fit a charger but which one should we go for? The EV will be a Vauxhall Grandland Ultimate on a lease.

Anything compatible with Octopus would be my suggestion.

We've got the Ohme Home Pro, it's easy to use, just plug and charge.

I had a ZAPPI fitted by Octopus and I'm on Intelligent Go and it works a treat. Installation was quick, tidy and everything was properly explained and set up.

I went for a Zappi, as it integrates with Octopus Intelligent Go (can charge any car you like).

2 reasons to choose Zappi over the other Octopus-compatible chargers:

Works with WiFi or ethernet, not reliant on a good mobile signal
Works with solar/batteries

My Hypervolt 3 has been faultless, with a very good app.
Just don't get Octopus to fit it. They use the lowest bidder. The fitter isn't employed by Octopus.
Research local firms and look at the quality of their work

I got two quotes from local electricians and they were about £350+ more than Octopus. Chap who fitted mine arrived in an Octopus EV van with Octopus ID so I assume he’s employed directly by them?

My Hypervolt came back online earlier this evening, I’m wondering if the problem is with Octopus, I keep getting alerts about the scheduled charging times, which then allows me to Bump charge, but these schedules disappear form the app for a short time which also disables charging.

Make sure you've not got any schedule set in your car. They will conflict if you have

Car is set to ‘charge immediately’, is there anything else I need to do?

EDIT: I’ve just checked on the charger (not plugged in to car), it’s lit up red, which according to the manual indicates a fault!

My tuppence worth. I'd go for a Zappi, it works with Solar and an Eddi so you can charge the car from Solar but if that isn't an option, look at the Octopus website and use one that is on their recommended list.
I only say Zappi as I have been informed by my Solar installer that they can do the solar charging. Of course at the time of choosing a charger I didn't know that and went for a Pod Point Solo, which works fine but isn't on the Octopus list. Other chargers might well do the same, so do your research.

Another vote for a Zappi from me, especially if you have solar. It all just works together how you’d want it to.

We have a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro with no complaints. Fitted by a local electrician. No issues whilst used with the OVO EV tariff

I have a Simpson & Partners EV charger. Chosen because it’s outside my house, doesn’t look hideous and is Octopus compatible.

I have a Zappi that was installed by Octopus last year. I’m on intelligent Go and have solar panels and a battery. Alongside one PHEV RAV4 and a Kona electric.

The Zappi works really well. Lots of sun and a full solar battery I can charge the car via solar.

RAV4 needs charging just set the percentage on octopus app to 33% and the car gets fully charged. Kona needs charging set app percentage to 80% job done.

Zappi works flawlessly.

Hypervolth Home Pro 3 here which has also been faultless itself, touchwood.

Though as per my other thread I'm unhappy with OVO who have modified their system so that their app does not push charging schedules through to the Hypervolt App unless the vehicle is actually plugged in. The knowledge that there was a cheap session available during the day allowed a quick top up for a few hours to be grabbed.

My interpretation of their comments is that it's a nudge technique to get you to be plugged in more of the time. The old system worked fine for me.

I export all my solar. I get 15p/KW export and charge for 7p/Kw.
You're giving money away by using the solar to charge the car

Had a Ohme home pro fitted yesterday by a local guy, same price as Octopus but he was available earlier than the Octopus dates. can't compare it to any others but decent app and integration with Octopus. It does have an integration with the car but I've not set it up yet.
