Trying to trace an old Swiss car
Discussion
I am trying to trace a car that a Swiss family member owned. It was bought new in 1986 in Zurich and was registered there until at least 2003 when he sold it.
What is the right government agency to get in touch with to find out more information? Is there a Swiss version of the DVLA? I know the name and address of where the car was registered, and the car's registration number (I know in Switzerland this is specific to the person not the vehicle like in the UK).
I appreciate this a long shot given the how old the car would be (40 years old next year) and the likely GDPR restrictions around sharing information.
I am really keen to find out whatever I can about the car as I have fond memories of journeys around Switzerland we took in it as a family when I was a child, and in an ideal world I would dearly love to be able to buy it if it is still on the road. When my relative gave up driving no-one thought I would be interested in an 'old LHD Saab'
Anyway, I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks.
