Passed these near a speed sign, what are they?

No crossing there, but there was one of them speed board signs that tells you your current speed so you can beat your high score.

That really is not far off the image of the '1984' Big Brother screens in everyone's home. Looking for mobile phone use or no seat belt, perhaps?

I reckon they're average speed cameras. I've seen similar in Bexhill & also between Brighton marina & the pier.
Whereabouts is that? It might show up on a speed camera map: https://www.scdb.info/en/karte/

Don’t know, infra red sensors of some type?

There is an inductive loop in to road just by them too, wonder what that’s for?

Someone (won't name them to spare blushes) changed his mind when he said speed cameras were 2/3rds Orwellian, I see.

Or... Was that Big Brother dragging you away for re-education? hehe

I don't know what OP's picture shows, but I had a similar pondering when I entered a 30mph zone and the following suddenly became visible having been obscured by a tree:

Of course, the Google Streetview version adds a bit of clarity hehe

Now, I'm not saying that every odd-looking post of equipment is a weather station, but at least one of them is.

As an aside, what's being obscured by the ruddy great smudge on the other side of the damn/bridge? They've done a proper job hiding that!

Could it be the Hercules Linton Memorial? Because some moron is offended by women's' breasts even when represented as a ship's figurehead?

Weirdly, there's no speed cameras listed on any website in that location or on Waze

Ha, well I made the mistake of taking it seriously for a moment...!

They'll be IR lights to illuminate vehicle number plates for the cameras on the nearby pole. For ANPR or average speed.

Bit of a mix there:

If you are putting infrastructure in , might as well add cams.

My theory is that this is a community weather station with community webcam feed. Maybe a nimby wanted to check people were using the approved route to get to Woburn Safari Park instead of driving through the village. A local road for local people.
