Before I go, I'd like to see a Class 401 electric multiple unit. I'm not a preserved railway aficionado, but the 401 was such a familiar sight when I was a child. I'd just like to see one.

The sole survivor, as far as I can find out, is in the National Railway Museum in York. In my memory they were uniformly green, the ends weren't yellow. But my memory is notoriously unreliable.

There are probably other fairly dull things I'd quite like to do.

I didn't realise they were no longer in use, I don't use the railways much but thought all trains looked the same. (Except heritage steam and suchlike)

It's often the most familiar things that disappear without comment until one day you think, 'Where did all the Austin 7s go?' or 'I haven't seen an AA Box for a long time.'

Go on, then. What's on your Pail List?

Not sure I really have one. I'd like to see this lot again, but probably be disappointed.

We’ve still got two AA boxes up here (Aberdeenshire) locally to me. Apparently only 18 or so left in their original locations.

Just experienced (Easter Sunday) a glorious day in Glasgow.
Want to experience the same but somewhere along the NC500 between Applecross and Clachtoll.

It's a good outing, sometimes they have a car show too.

That was a cheat by me. There's one on a back double into Manchester, in Mere. I say, "It's a mere box," and my wife groans.

That's three we've accounted for.

I’d like to meet someone who has climbed Mt. Everest, because they’re there.

I didn't realise there were so few, I drive past one on a weekly basis along the A3052 so assumed they were ubiquitous but now that I think about it I can't remember seeing any others in the wild.

Looks like "my" one on the A3052 is one of the 18 originals.

Lots of cars I kind of want to own but will either appreciate out of reach or never quite reach the top of the priority chart.

I do want to own a purple car at some point though, preferably an Alpina B5 GT Touring.

Remarkable place. Local to me, I've been a few times, well worth it.
The National Museum of Computing is next door, that's worth a visit too.

I'd like to meet someone who works in a tinned goods factory, because they can.

Shoplifting

When I get to say 80 and look like a classic nice old man I’m going to take up shoplifting with a twist

I will walk into somewhere like John Lewis or similar find some daft Saturday workers and say something like

“Lads I’ve just purchased this big expensive item, can you help me out with it please”

See how far I can push it for fun

I wouldn’t keep the goods, maybe just explain they are not mine and I’m confused once I get to the car

I suspect by the time I’m 80 and can get away with it, John Lewis won’t exist, Saturday workers won’t exist but here’s hoping

Brands Hatch - I've visited race-circuits all over the UK and never been to Brands Hatch. I promised myself to visit last year and never made it, perhaps this year wink

I'd like to feed mashed potatoes to a badger.

Because everybody knows, badgers love mashed potatoes.

(Some even make them into shapes and eat them everyday, apparently.)

In Waltham chase Hampshire I saw a chap called nutty Norman throw a potatoe at a badger at the traffic lighted junction
