Anyone moved from a 911 to a c2018 Vantage?
Discussion
I considered these amongst options before getting my Vantage Roadster.
The issue I had with the Targa and Cali (ok “recommended” here) is that you have to be stopped to operate the roof, whereas the Vantage is done inn7 secs up to 30mph. If I got caught on a motorway in a sudden downpour I’d prefer my chances in not coming to a stop. Also, the Cali boot opens to stow the roof, hence the recommendation, so the boot contents aren’t scattered to the wind.
Other than that I feel the 911 is a somewhat common sight now and doesn’t still give a feel-good factor when just cruising along.
The Cali T is a good drive and sound but rather basic inside - I was looking for something I could enjoy at every drive, be that touring France or nipping to Screwfix 🙂

Thank you, I'd love a roadster but they are just out of budget currently, all good points you make though, my 997 allows roof operation on the move, although my motorway strategy if a downpour ensues is keep going as fast as possible to create a bubble and then dive under the next available flyover and closing the roof at a standstill, always seemed safer than doing sub 20mph in the inside lane !The issue I had with the Targa and Cali (ok “recommended” here) is that you have to be stopped to operate the roof, whereas the Vantage is done inn7 secs up to 30mph. Update on this, Friday last week I popped into AM West London, ended up spending a couple of hours with a sales guy called Richard, explained I wasn't ready to buy but wanted to have a good look round a car, he could not have been more helpful and we even took a car out.
So mind is made up, must haves have been chosen and once back from my holiday late May will start looking in earnest.
Richard knows what I'm after and hopefully he can source something.

Just an update on progress, there has been no progress, there hasn't been a car visible yet that's taken my fancy, im being quite fussy but I don't think too fussy, im after the following :
V8V Roadster
Any color except black or white
Alcantara interior, ideally with the extended alcantara to the dashboard
Ideally not black wheels but that can be fixed post sale.
Black roof as car will live outside.
Sub 30k miles
Sub 100k price
A question, I know in Porsche circles there are a number of good independents that don't use Autotrader / PH to advertise but are just 'known ' does the same exist in the AM community?
Any advice greatly received.

That's one problem when buying an Aston over a Porsche - they're much less common...!It took me 9 months to find a DB9 that met enough criteria (eventually I sacrificed the Volante bit) - and am now in the same boat for my next one....

Any interest in 4 additional cylinders?

That’s where my money would go. I’ve never seen that colour before, even in the colorful V12 Vantage group. I doubt it will hang around.

I just took my Vantage to Norfolk for the weekend (from Herts) - roof down all the way. Behaved faultlessly and even though I walked a further 12 miles of the Norfolk Coastal path, I was still able to stand up when I returned. Amazing how comfortable these are really. Also - still have around a third of a tank left after 200 miles.

Nice, no pics ;-) Might be at top of your budget but noticed that Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell had a lovely looking one in Divine Red which ticks quite a few of your boxes.
I think very few Roadsters of the new shape would have the Alcantara option though.
John Mcgurks is a decent Indy but tends to focus more on older cars.

They've had it 6 weeks, the Alcantara is a non negotiable for me, coming from a 911 GTS with the Leather / Alcantara I really want that again, there are a few out there but they have been black / white and those are 100% out, if I were to compromise on the interior then there are multiple decent cars out there, a lovely silver one popped up last night but the interior is an awful tan colour that looks like play-doh !!!I think very few Roadsters of the new shape would have the Alcantara option though.

Keep patience and the right one will hopefully show up.

Annoyingly it wasn't even on my radar until Richard at AM London took me out in a coupe to test drive and its interior was an alcantara heaven, until that one I never really knew it was a thing ....
Was this one https://www.stratstone.com/search/details/used/ast...
Now that as a Roadster and I'm done ..... I thought about buying it until my wife pointed out how grumpy I got last time our 2nd car wasn't a convertible !!!!
