Went to my nearest bike shop the other day, Powerbiking in High Wycombe for a puncture repair, and commented that their stock looks a bit low and they said they will be closing later on this year.

Surprise surprise the site will be developed with flats, if there aren't enough of them already.

Are they closing for good or relocating? They've been at three sites in High Wycombe over the years.
Maybe they could set up next to the Porsche & Bentley dealerships!

Last weekend at a very popular bike spot with cafe , I was absolutely a similar age, shape, gender and colour to everyone else . I am 60.
There are no young new bikers .It's in decline.

Very true

Although I'm always pleasantly surprised by the number of youngish bikers that arrive at the hayling Island bike meets. Clearly youngsters are in the minority but quite a few groups of them show up most weeks

My son rides bikes, and a group of his friends do to and they are all in there 20s..... So some young people do ride bikes. BUT they don't buy new because they can't afford them.

I saw two other people younger than about 40 at Loomies last night. Everyone else I've seen for weeks (inc both ways on the ferry to Europe) were close to retirement or past it

Yet when a load of younger people got into biking when the whole Bike Shed thing happened all the 'proper' bikers laughed them away because they weren't doing biking properly.

I doubt the laughing stopped them. More like moving on to the next trend they can pretend to be interested in.

I remember going to race meetings in the late 80’s and early 90’s where there would be literally thousands of new or nearly new Sports Bikes.
I suppose all those riders in their 20’s and 30’s will now be in their late 50’s through to their 70’s that kind of sums up the people you see at bike meets.
