I'm sure it was on PH in the last couple of days, someone was posting about recording video footage using an action cam. Can't find the thread. Anyone?

I've been messing around with using my phone to record footage and wondered if it was decent enough. £6 ebay clamp!

Looks OK. A bit dark because the bright sky is pushing the exposure down a bit, and you need to turn off autofocus so that it doesnt refocus on to raindrops.

You might like to have a look at DaVinci resolve (there's a free version) to brighten the lower half, and possibly smooth it out with some stabilisation. (Which I assume the free version offers - I don't use it).

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I noticed the refocus and exposure issue (it wasn't even a bright day at that point!). I will have to see if I can change things on my phone.

Well, the options on my phone are very, very limited so I will definitely not be videoing on a rainy day! No option to switch off autofocus. Can't change the exposure, either. Maybe I'll get a cheap action cam.

Have you tried a dashcam app? Don't know whether they have controls over the camera as much as the camera itself though.

Oh, that's an idea. Given the lack of controls as standard, I guess it's possible that an app might be better. Thanks.
