Following a change of battery, sunroof section opens in about 5 short bursts and rod switch needs to be erased and pressed 5 times to fully open. Once the sunroof section is fully open the convertible top operates as normal. It appears the sunroof needs reprogramming following the change of battery - any ideas? Thanks

I changed the battery on our F57 last week.

To make the roof work properly - it needs to relearn where the windows are. Windows all the way down and hold the button at the top and the bottom. Did this a couple of times and the roof went back to working properly.

Thank you for your post. Just checking I’m doing this correctly.I’ve tried with roof fully closed, ignition on, lowered all 4 windows fully down and held down window toggle switch for 15 seconds, then closed windows using window toggle switch and held button for 15 seconds. Repeated this twice but unfortunately sunroof section of roof still not operating correctly. Am I following your suggestions correctly? Thanks.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, keen to hear where you get to. Will give the resetting a go. My other thoughts were with a possible relay fault . As a relay is a switch it could be just switching on and off when power is sent to it by the switch. But don’t know if the two purple relays in the boot are for the sun roof part or the hydraulic part.

When you say hold the button at the top and the bottom, what do you mean exactly?? I have a toggle switch.

It’s not the purple relays in the boot, I swapped them over. I also did a hard reset by disconnecting the battery , touch the negative cable against the positive . Left for 30 mins. No change .

Hi. May I ask what battery to put in it? I've just changed battery on my F57, but the recommended size did not fit. Ended up with a larger 115, that does fit, but I think is causing problems.

Hi same problem with the roof but after trying all reset procedures ive removed the roof motor to run it light as another option was the trapping overcurrent protection. motor is doing the same thing with it mechanically disconnected so ive stripped the motor down and theres a circular magnet inside thats for the speed and direction sensors and the magnet has snapped in half and fallen of the shaft. superglued the magnet back together on the shaft and its working and saved £200 on a new motor. happy days.
