Heard about these people on the radio today and I've just signed up to the service as I'm sick and tired of get congestion charge fines though. I work lots of night shifts and it's so so easy to forget to pay the charge. I normally forget at least 2 or 3 times a month!! (£40 fine each, sometimes forget to pay that then it's £60, then £80!! Do the maths :yikes:)

Does anyone else use this service? Basically I pay them a tenner a month (£10 per vehicle) and they put my car reg number down as been part of their fleet. As a fleet member the CC is only £7 instead of eight, and fivepounds.co.uk know when you have entered the zone and charge you accordingly at the end of the month.

Their promise is that you'll never receive another CC fine so long as your signed up to them.

So if I enter the zone just 10 times a month, then thats paid for the fivepounds.co.uk admin charge, and the bonus is I can't forget to pay it!! Bargain!!

Anyone had any experience of this company??

Dan :)

I'm left wondering why, with all of that technology that ken spent everyone's money on, TFL couldn't have come up with a similar scheme?

I believe the fines for forgetting were part of the business model.

If everyone paid the CC their profits would be down.

Saying that, if the CC actually reduced congestions their profits would be down too. Same with speed cameras/speeding.

Good job they're not in it to make money eh?

TfL are trying to shut down this outfit (which on it's own might be a good enough reason to support them) as they're 'abusing' the fleet car 'rules'.

Exactly. One evening on coming home to my tenth "fine", I fired off an email to them demanding to see their detailed budgets under the Freedom of Information Act. Guess what: they claimed they couldn't show them to me for "data protection" reasons.

Take it to the ombudsman - it won't cost you anything and will really wind TFL up

They were - apparently the system chosen was not the simplest or the most cost effective.

Therefore they had to be punitive with the fines / period of payment to make the business model work.

This is explained in full in an article by a leading specialist in these types of systems, who was comparing the Congestion charge in London with other schemes around the world.

The tenner a month is for fivepounds.co.uk's admin charge, on top of that I have to pay £7 every time I enter the zone. Basically, I'm saving a pound every time I enter the zone (as part of cclondon's fleet scheme) and never have to worry about paying the charge on a daily basis, just direct debited from my account by fivepounds.co.uk on the 8th of every month.

I read that CCLondon are trying to put a stop to it by demanding to see the company (fivepounds) V5 forms for it's fleet. So now when you register with them they mention they might need a fax of your V5.

Even if it only lasts a few months (been running since May I believe) I'll be quids in!!
