Agreed - looks too cheap to be true. Where can you get discs and pads for that price?

As a test why not call the garage, pretend you've got an 840 and ask for a quote for this work.

I know where William Street is. There are various small motor traders that come and go, plus repair and servicing garages that seem to change names regularly too.
Think of a plate glass main dealer showroom with shiny floors and a smell of freshly brewed coffee.
Then think of the exact opposite (with or without Alsatians) and you’re close.
I’ve not seen a GC Autos, with or without the apostrophe.
No vat number, no phone number and looks to have been printed on an inkjet printer.
Search Companies House perhaps?

Isn't it mainly cheap because they've not charged for the labour? 5 hours labour would normally double that bill easily.

Admittedly that also looks cheap for the brake parts, but not implausible if you really don't care about the quality.

Who tf writes "2024/5" invoice when the £30 printer can state the date?

Red "paid" stamp was £1.99 on Amazon.

Fakey mcfake face.

Autodoc has front pads and disks for £81 delivered. Cheap s**t like but that might be all that was fitted.

Certainly looks like labour was zero though. Perhaps they worked at the garage or were owed a favour? £50/hr and you've doubled the bill.

What do the discs and brake pads look like on the car currently?

You can get discs and Mintex pads off ebay for £136 so entirely possible.
Zero labour means it could be a warranty job - previous seller is clearly shifting it on. I bought a car once (very cheap) and the blocks disintegrated under braking about 3 weeks in. That'll knacker the discs instantly.
Up to you if you think suspicious or not, but it's certainly not a premium provider.
I would have thought an 840 would have deserved better attention!

I think 2024/25 is written on the plastic wallet that's holding the invoice.

You need to ask the question, why is the invoice £0/hr labour? I suspect its an "internal" job, added into the invoices to fluff it up, and that GC AUTO'S (sic) are a small-time trader below the VAT threshold.

Parts prices look fine, although brake parts will be the cheapest of cheap Chinese rubbish.

No labour charged so maybe a staff members car or completed for a friend who paid cash for the labour on a weekend or other such scenario.

No ‘brake disc repair kit’ mentioned, no new sensor, no grease mentioned. I suspect corners are being cut somewhere.

It's possible to get dirt cheap parts by being trade.

My issue with that invoice is that VAT is charged with no VAT Number.

Who the hell invoices for grease? Really, stop going to that garage. The sensor wouldn't necessarily need replacing unless it was damaged.

Everything here says "trade" to me.

Parts and fluids charged at cost.
Five hours labour at no charge.

Surely this was an invoice provided by a selling trader to confirm the car's "just been serviced"?

I just took a look at William St on google street view. No sign of GC Auto (or GC Auto's) but, surprise surprise, there's a car trader called The Car Hut that has a very similar logo, just with the car facing in the opposite direction.

Rather than guessing and looking at some paperwork just inspect the vehicle.

Look at the discs, should still look shiny sparkly new if done last month. Any lipping, scoring or rust build up on the outer edge presume the whole lot is joey and avoid. Pull the air filter cover, obvious as hell if new or not.

car in question is here

https://carsonline.bonhams.com/en/listings/bmw/840...

it sold exactly a year ago for £11,500 same auction house

I spoke with Bonhams and queried the service , they said they would look into it but mentioned the seller has the same initials as the garage !! apparently he also has another garage trading name but sells bric a brack as well ...go figure

so he serviced it himself hence the no labour charge , when i Said well there is no record of that company on companies house , nor does it exist in that location , Bonhams said well perhaps hes set up a new business and waiting for the paperwork........

Well i said he's charged himself VAT !! for a business that doesn't exist i

thats not a vendor i want to buy from thanks
