Apologies in advance as this must have been asked several times.

My wife doesn't have any pensionable earnings (she has unearned income but apaprently it doesn't count towards her pension)

Is starting a SIP for her a "no brainer"? My understanding is that we can pay £2,880 each year into her pension and this will get topped up by 25%.

If we play our cards right she might be able to draw down all of this before her State Pension kicks in and stay within her personal allowance.

Seems like a fair swap.

(sorry!)

I've done exactly this for my wife since 2014.
Builds up quite nicely without really realising it.
As at December 24 ( probably a bit less today ) pot stood at £ 67k with an estimated annual " pension " due of £ 5k.
