Ah jeez. The Naked gun was one of my favourite films as a kid and I watched it over and over again.

The trailer doesn't have anything like the right tone for a Naked Gun film so I'm not hopeful. I'm not sure Hollywood knows how to make that sort of comedy any more.

I am willing to give this a chance

I don't have high hopes but you never know, it just might work.

OJ joke is okay, but otherwise...no.

As a big fan of the TV series, I'm going to struggle with this.

Loved the original films and Police Squad. This looks rubbish. Liam Neeson is a very good actor but I regard his ability to be funny about as convincing as Nicolas Cage was at playing the hardman.

Leslie Nielson is Frank Drebben. Wild wokery probably means this cannot work and Liam Neeson is no comedy actor.

On the plus side, Will Ferrell is not in it (I hope).

Seth McFarlane is involved so it's unlikely to have any "wild wokery"

I would imagine it will rubbish with a few funny moments.

Always amazed there was only 6 episodes of Police Squad made - just shows how memory plays tricks on you as I remember laughing away with my Dad when it was on and it felt like a lot more than that!

Leslie Nielson's Drebin was deadpan humour, not realising he's funny. Neeson sounds like he's doing a National Lampoon's Taken.

To me THE WHOLE point of Frank Drebin what that he DIDN'T get the joke and thought he was brilliant!

In the first scene, Liam Neeson appears to make a joke, that's also a crap one by dressing up as a little girl.

Drebin would never knowingly do that, he'd fall into a ladies dress and stagger blindly about knocking the bad guys over.

It'll be crap, they obviously have made zero attempt to understand Drebin or Neilson, who was serious actor, that was the majic

If ever we needed proof Hollywood was running out of original scripts this is it!

I watched the trilogy again back in lockdown, as I thought it'd be fun to introduce my son to them. The first one is still relentlessly brilliant.

The second, and especially the third have a surprising amount of sex and boob jokes in them, and were not quite as suitable for a 9 year old as I'd remembered biggrin
