Hi All. Despite being reasonably techie, I cannot get my head around these two brands' approaches to HR health monitoring. Please can somebody clarify for me?

Background: I've been having a few flutters/palpitations recently. I'm going to the doctor and having tests, so I'm not looking for a wearable as a diagnosis tool, but I'm feeling like I'd like something to "keep an eye on me" and notify me of any changes in HR trends, momentary patterns, overnight "occurrences" that I'll miss while sleeping.

What I'm unsure of is whether Garmin's heart-health monitoring is "always on" as Apple's appears to be. i.e. I think that Apple would pick up something unusual and notify me, but Garmin would rely on me being aware and pressing a button. Have I understood correctly, or am I doing Garmin a disservice and/or over-egging Apple's calabilities?

I do a fair amount of sport, so have worn a Garmin Forerunner series watch of some sort for many years. I'm aware I'd need a f?nix 8 for the ECG app.

Thanks in advance!

ETA: I’m aware that Garmin’s ECG app isn’t available in the UK yet, but I’m confident that it’s only a matter of time.

Wee nudge, just to bring it to the top of people's post-lunchtime "What's New" lists...
