Hi all,

We’re going to be starting to reconfigure our downstairs by taking a wall out, converting a garage and ripping the back of the house into one room. I’ll be honest besides creating a kitchen I’ve not really much else and I’m starting to get a bit stressed.

What things should I start to make decisions on or start planning for it? I thought I’d add a high level plan to show what we’re doing . We’re also getting wet underfloor heating to any suggestions for this would be greatly appreciated.

I’m just wondering what I can start to think about now and look for deals or stuff on Facebook marketplace place / eBay.

Most pressing decisions will be stuff that happens during the construction phase- location & size/style of windows, and decisions on first fix - exact number and locations of power sockets, light switches & luminaires (pendants, wall lights, Downlights etc).

I’ve done similar all my life , if you’re ok living in st just make sure you’ve got a bedroom and bathroom that’s comfortable.
A temporary kitchen in a spare bedroom , by which I mean a short length of worktop with a sink , next door to the bathroom for easiness, and a dual function cheap oven - microwave off marketplace does make it easier .
Good luck , roughing it does pay off eventually , I’m not actually finished doing it 😀

Thanks! Temporary kitchen is on my hit list! I am also hoping to get the washing machine plumbed in somewhere but that's proving tricky! We've got an air dryer & lending some plug in induction hobs so combined with a microwave we should be OK i think!
