Hello there chaps,

I've spent many countless hours trying to find a solution to this issue which has recently started happening when I press the button to close the bootlid. I get its a very trivial problem but I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I've driven the car 25k miles so far and haven't had this issue prior to it starting a month or so ago. Of course it first happened when the wife was closing the boot so I wasn't sure if perhaps she tweaked something. Its kind of an intermittent issue but mostly when you press the button there is a loud click almost like it gets caught on something, it will then reset the motor and the boot won't close. If I apply pressure to the boot lid or lower it even slightly then it will close okay when I press the button.

Heres a video of the problem:

I've checked both hinges and the springs attached and everything seems to be normal, and if I shut the boot the old fashioned way it never feels like there is any resistance coming from the bootlid.

I was perhaps thinking something may be binding up on the motor at its first point of travel so was considering purchasing another boot closing unit but I'm a bit hesistant because sometimes it works just fine.

Cheers

Mine started misbehaving a while back, I injected some oil in the general vicinity of the hinges, opened and closed them a few times and they've been fine ever since. Might be worth a try before you spend any money.

Thats a good idea. I did put some oil on the attachment points of the wire from the motor to the hinges but maybe some in the hinges would be a better idea. It doesnt feel like its binding in any way thats what's doing my head in lol.
