OBD Reader & CarPlay - some cool stats, but no oil temp
Discussion
Thought I would try an ODB reader (OBDLink MX+ OBD2) and car play app called OBD Fusion to see if I can get oil temp on a 2014 V12VS.
Looks like the car just does not offer oil temp as a ODB data point. But. you can get quite a few other interesting temps while driving. Still crave after knowing the oil temp!
Here are a couple of screenshots. I did see the cat temp go well over 900c after some more spirited driving!

I used to use Torque Pro in my Jag XJR & XFR. It gave lots of info', but not all.
Eventually, a few years ago, a chap in Australia offered a download to Jag forum members of a set of PID's that would show all of the missing available info'.
Maybe that's what you would need, but, finding someone who has delved into that for Aston's might be the problem.

...

That's pretty cool - how high could you get the 'engine power' while driving? Presumably this figure caps out at the max power figure as the car left the factory i.e. modified vehicles with aftermarket manifolds & ECU remaps wouldn't show a reading above this?...

That's interesting - what extra info could you see? p.s. was it the chap from OldJaguar.com in Australia?Eventually, a few years ago, a chap in Australia offered a download to Jag forum members of a set of PID's that would show all of the missing available info'.

Complete waste of time and money as no engine oil temperature sensor present on the VH-generation engines.

Correct. I tried writing my own with a dongle and iPhone ages ago. Nothing there.
for oil yes, not for the other stats (if you like that sort of thing, which I do).Things like misfires and intake temps on tracks, Love it!

Must say, not looked when I use full power! will ask a passenger and assumes its just a set peak value on car type and not variable? PHFS said:

Sorry. I was just referring to the oil temp. Yes, lots of other fun stuff. Does it do things as gauges or are you stuck with text?Things like misfires and intake temps on tracks, Love it!
