Your survival kit must haves
Discussion
So, worse case scenario, probably wont happen to my mind but there’s no harm in having a couple of boxes made up to sling in the back of your chosen escape vehicle.
We have a large 4x4 that rarely gets used for anything but bags to the bin so thought i’d load it up as an escape pod, should we need it.
Never done anything like this before and it seems there’s plenty of ruck sack kits or even big box kits containing some of what ive already listed but think i’d prefer to put my own thoughts & others into it, lighthearted approach really… but the undercurrent is obviously there at the moment.
My first quick draft this morning:
Food
Tuna
Soup
Water
Complete food powders
Honey
Nuts
Dried fruit
Peanut butter
weapons
Crossbow
Snares
Air riffle
Sausages
comfort
Sleeping bags
Tent
Ground sheet
Cooking stove
Coats
Mosquito repelant
Slipper
currency
Cash
Gold
Cigarettes & phone cards
practical
Waterproofer
Rope
Solar charger
Batteries (dry and rechargeable)
Cool box
Generators: small/large
Torch
Matches/flint
Lightweight Trolley
Durex
Diesel & petrol
Tools (hammer, saw, chisels, nails)
Wind up radio
Compass
Maps of europe and africa
Medical
Dressing
Torniquet
Plasters (spray)
Benodine
Anadin
Nasal spray
Nurofen patches

Never forget your nasal spray when the world is ending it's in all the movies
A personal one due deviated septum, if i cant hunt due to migraine from blockages, we’ll go very hungry

Couple of good suggestion
iodine tablets to, though i doubt the two of us would want to be ina world that necessitated that precaution tbh and probably call it quits.. love life too much for that scenario and have had a damn good one, so far!
Guess asking here is as good a place as any, doesnt sound like i qualify anyway, how do you two know of these things i wander
No idea what we’d be running from, i guess war is the more relevant but i must say i dont watch the news much, i’m retired a spend most of my day either holidaying, cutting grounds or training, so probably just an idle mind musing things, sort of exciting to, we love just buggering off at the last minute anyway, rarely planned but always prepared to should the mood take us..
Crossbow (as most things on that list) i dont have but thought it a great silent way of going about hunting, i’m pretty accurate with stuff like that but i guess range is limiting, are there fully automatic jobbies? That could be easier if i didnt have my glasses with me

Why not join your local 4x4 Response? Qualification for membership are a 4x4, being an incel and living with your Mum.
Why doesn’t PH have a 4x4 response forum ? With so many meeting the above criteria. Why not join your local 4x4 Response? Qualification for membership are a 4x4, being an incel and living with your Mum.

Where are you escaping to in your van?
I note maps of Europe and Africa are on your list.
Is this out-running a societal collapse/war or because you have shot someone with your crossbow and have taken your own family hostage?
We’re about 800 miles closer to those routes than the uk already, so makes sense, some jerrycans should make s.a doable I note maps of Europe and Africa are on your list.

With all that in your 4x4 (two generators?!) - where are the people going to go?
Well, we’d only take the small one, big one was listed for home as we need one anyway, only two of us, so pretty easy to stack it, lofty height with the FFRR to, which would be handy. You seem to be missing the most crucial item of all!
A decent knife, or at the very least a multitool with a couple of types of knife blade.
I have my leather man multi tool in my Defender 90, and it’s the one that gets used for all variety of situations.
We even used it to cut steel mesh wire fencing to release a deer that had run into it and got caught on the estate.
