Changing employment status to self employed

Hi

I will be changing from employed to self employed in the next few weeks.

an accountant told me to change my status on gov.uk to self employed before the 31st march. I've watched a video on you tube but when i click on 'which best describes you' the individual option doesn't come up.

Can anyone advise?

Interesting - I wasn't aware that you could change your Employment status on GOV.UK.

Also I'm not sure what impact it would have. If you're self employed you need to register with HMRC and then make sure you fill in your self assessment return every year. It's quite possible to be both an Employee and self employed at the same time. (It's also possible to be neither and still have to complete the self assessment form). Your status on GOV.UK would be irrelevant afaics.
