Friend is having their 50th birthday soon, he's a very keen road cyclist does events, tours and trips all over the place.

Someone else is getting him a custom old style race poster, so that's out.

He's fussy about "stuff" so I suspect normal clothing shoes, bike accessories are not going to work either.

Any reasonable price (50-£100) memorabilia, or event tickets, experiences etc. anyone can suggest please?

Does he live anywhere near Manchester Velodrome? I’m sure there’s some international races coming up.

Could also buy him a gift pack of supplements and protein bars veloforte do nice ones as do hundreds of other suppliers.

Prendas ciclismo do some lovely retro race jerseys, books etc.

Definitely get him this. It's a cycling icon

If he doesn't like the PZT then he's not a true cyclist. Also in Ti and Carbon.

A Ventoux wine is probably also worth a shout, to go along with the park tool Pizza cutter.

Anywhere from a tenner upwards

What about these. Someone bought them me as a gift and they are really nice. Almost too nice to use.

A subscription to the print version of Rouleur Magazine. It’s always a joy to get a print magazine through the post every month with decent stories

https://www.rouleur.cc/pages/subscribe?srsltid=Afm...

They’re not available yet, but tickets to the Rouleur London show, usually in November and a pretty decent evening?

Or similar to above - Lee Valley ‘London 3 day event’ in October - get a ticket to the sat eve party?

The book - The midlife cyclist. I’d recommend this as an aging ‘athlete’!

Or the Joe Friel ‘Fast over 50’ training book.

Or finally, what about a subscription / member to the GCN you tube channel. Their videos are now getting better and better since they’ve gone independent again.

Or does he like hill climbing? Create him a package so he can go and watch the 2025 Hill Climb Nationals in October up on Bank Road, in Matlock

https://www.matlockcyclingclub.org.uk/ctt-national...

Maybe buy hotel room etc so he can travel day before then return the afternoon after it finishes. Can you arrange with his partner / wife so they could make a weekend of it?

Or a day trip (fund a eurostar ticket) so he could get to Belgium to watch one of the classics. Again maybe liase with his family?

As a ‘picky’ road cyclist myself, these would do it for me as a surprise day out to watch two events I’d enjoy. The Belgium one would be about the overall experience rather than the race itself.
