National IQ test in the 1990s

I was in Ireland doing intercerts in 1990 or 1991. I remember there was a national IQ test everyone our age had to do - a formal, multi-page test, multiple choice, that we did in school just like an exam. I can't find any mention of such a thing online.

Does anyone know what this was?
