Thanks for the message, my limited understanding is that the IMS bearing isn't an issue on this model.

Its auto - so no clutch change - but IMS and RMS are relevant. Have neither been addressed?

Could you share the results of the bore score check ?

I am a member of the Porsche owners club and downloaded this excerpt from their 997 buyers guide, suggests improved bearing fitted from 56 plate. Not had readings done of bore score, engine running absolutely fine. Significant money spent as part of recommissioning, invoices attached and all items identified by Autofarm were attended to as per their findings and experience.

What should I look for?
The forums are full of horror stories concerning cylinder bore scoring and failure of the intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing in the Gen 1 Carrera engines. However, cylinder scoring has only affected a small percentage (perhaps 5%) of Gen 1 (pre DFI engine, 58-plate) cars. In our experience it is the larger engined models (the 3.8S models) that are more prone. Most experts would suggest an IMS bearing failure is low risk, but a stronger item was fitted approximately from the start of the 2007 MY (56 plate). The leaky rear main oil seal (RMS) issue that blighted so many of the 996 models was largely resolved by the 997 models.

Thanks - yours is 06 not 56 hence the question.

Could I please confirm - the report says the bores are scored on bank 2, cylinders 4,5,6 - do you have any more detail or has this been rectified ?
