BMW i8 - private sale?
Discussion
Trade in values are very poor mainly because the cost of fixing them is high should they have any faults- faults are not always immediately apparent. . (Alot of the time your are limited to main dealers for fixing as alot of mechanics don't want to get involved, so repair costs are high).
Hence why a lot of peeps try and sell privately which I suspect is also very hard as few buyers want to take the risk without comeback (doesn't help by them asking dealer money either)
(BTW the battery is the most reliable part!)

Dealers don't want ticking battery time bombs? lol
From the research I did before we bought ours the batteries seem to be fairly solid and their health can be checked via the hidden menu in driver display. Our seven year old example's useable capacity has only dropped marginally.Battery cooling system is another issue entirely and unfortunately these can be prone to fail. Part of the reason we bought ours from BMW approved used.
