Ferrari Purosangue gets Novitec 'Esteso' widebody

Novitec has been bulking up Marenello supercars for yonks; now things go XXL

Sometimes the latest Novitec-fettled supercar comes as a bit of a surprise, the model seemingly not quite suiting the usual raft of upgrades for one reason or another. The McLarens, as an example. But the Ferrari Purosangue? Made for a widebody, 23-inch wheels and even more carbon fibre, surely. It’s attention grabbing enough from the factory, so there’s no harm in drawing more eyeballs…

This is the ‘Esteso’ widebody for the Purosangue, a bit like previous N-Largo efforts for the two-door cars. It adds six centimetres to Ferrari’s width - now fully 2.09m across - and is said to ‘optimise the handling stability at high speeds’ thanks to its aero efficiency. The bodykit is available in carbon or ‘Pur-Rim’ plastic, which can be body- or contrast-coloured.

Arguably it doesn’t look quite so extreme as these Novitec conversions can, probably as the Purosangue is a fairly broad car to begin with, though there’s no denying some additional visual muscle. Here that’s helped by a set of 25mm lowering springs. So you’ll look brilliant at the school gate, though it might be a more punishing drive to get there. 

As per most Novitec builds, the Purosangue Esteso boasts Vossen wheels. Here they’re staggered ‘in order to emphasise the wedge shape’, so the fronts are 22s and the rears a giant 12Jx23 on a 315/30 tyre to fill out those chunky new arches. There are 72 colours offered for the wheels, because of course there are. 

Perhaps the most interesting change for the Purosangue from Novitec is the installation of an Inconel exhaust, promising anything up to another 30hp (standard is 725hp). Because more Ferrari V12 sound has to be a good thing. Sports cats should free up air flow a bit, and there are a variety of designs available for the four exhaust pipes. 

Safe to say, then, that with more carbon on offer (including a full bonnet if so desired), more power and more noise, the Purosangue Esteso is ticking all the Novitec boxes. If you need a Ferrari SUV to stand out, they might be the best people to speak to - and with plenty for sale already, that could be a more pressing concern than first thought…

I actually prefer the novitec as it makes it slightly more interesting

Wholeheartedly agree. The more them I see on the road, the more I think Ferrari got it just right with the Purosangue. Right blend of looks, presence and (bizarrely) subtlety. Ultimate acid test, whenever Mrs S sees one she loves it, and she doesn't usually like anything, often me included.

But this Novitec treatment just looks dreadful.

I've watched the road tests and people singing their praises.. but the original car looks terrible to me and this treatment only makes it worse.

The nicest thing I could say is that it's not as bad as cars which have had Mansory conversions inflicted upon them.

Why bother, when it allows them to sell more cars to people that don't find the standard offering vulgar / showy enough?

Clearly Novitec know this thing looks like a barried-up pile of st and so have decided to photograph it with the lights off

More subtle than expected to be honest, I guess the standard car is so bloody wide anyway there's not much to do! Still, a fine illustration of money not buying taste and all of that... Sure it sounds great though.

What is your gripe with the practicality of the Purosangue? We've taken ours on holiday and it fits everything necessary for a family of four.
