I’ve just watched the first two series again on YouTube. Takes me back to 1985. I don’t think it’s aged too badly at all. I even like the title and closing theme music

Anyone else like a Jan Howard back in the day ?

The Flying Fish is still moored on the Hamble. Think I might make a trip down to the Jolly Sailor this summer

Tracey was actually married in real life to Tony Anholt (Charles Frere) for eight years and toured with him.

Tony died back in 2002 aged 61.

Maurice Colbourne (Real name Roger Middleton), who played main man Tom Howard died at 49.

It was great viewing, which focused on Sailing, but lost it's way a bit (imo) when it focused too much on Jan Howard's clothes boutique.

Not seen it since the mid 1980's but it is still fresh in my mind.

I remember seeing the set at Pebble Mill. My first experience of cutaway rooms and stairs that went nowhere.

I'd still like to have a shot on a Sadler Barracuda 45. I reckon with modern materials it would be a cracking cruiser/racer today.

I grew up around where it was filmed and regularly drank at the Jolly Sailor. Used to see lots of the cast around.

The boat they built in the series is a real boat, MG Spring 25.

Nice little starter boat but very lightly built.

I remember he was in "Gangsters", which I think I enjoyed. Only one series, his character died at the end of it and I'm not sure whether that was because he'd died, or was always part of the plot. .

Not sure I needed a spoiler tag for something that happened in the eighties, in a series that as far as I can tell has never been repeated.

Has been repeated recently on the U&Drama channel, believe Jan Howard married Stephen Yardley who played Ken, she also played a part in one of the Morse episodes called 'Greeks bearing gifts'

When watching these 80s dramas i can't resist looking up the cast to see who's still alive smile

When I was a kid, Stephen Yardley was my best friends uncle..to see him at their house was mind blowing to a then 8 year old. Loved Howards Way, very much made me desperately want a boat/ to be part of that era sadly neither has ever happened (the latter due to lack of a time machine)

Cheers, I keep forgetting to look in the EPG at that channel, for some reason.

Loved the theme tune by Greenslade (Dave Greenslade) and remembered it as a kid as a gritty series (two seasons) for the time.
