This partly just thinking aloud… so bare with. My M140 was nicked a month or so back and can’t decide what I want to do.

Been looking at getting a M240, then looked at a 230, can get a year old with 5k miles for the price of a 3 or 4 year old 240 with 20k miles.
Is the 240 that much better? The 230 is still 60 under 6 seconds, 4.3 seconds was super cars only fast till a few years back.

Will the 240 always be the one people want so in a few years likely hold its value much better so be a better long term purchase? Will I always regret getting the lesser model (I get you can’t answer that lol) ?

Then whilst lookin realised that the 440 seems to be lower price than the 240? But with vastly higher spec.

Any thoughts welcome biggrin

Out of your three the 440i is the pick.

For me if you want a 2 series that'll hold more of it's value, I'd actually be looking at the M2:

The M lite cars will depreciate steadily & the 4 cylinder will be slightly worse.

Not the 240? Why the 4?

I worry about getting a 5 year old M2 not knowing how it has been abused, surely they have the ability to be ferociously costly to run ?

I know fixed price service is similar, but anything else will be daft money, or is that not the case?

They're a bit more expensive to run but not massively, I wouldn't be to concerned about what could possibly have happened to a used car.

Do YOUR checks & buy on condition as well as history.

I'd get the M440i out of those choices. Insanely good balance of refinement, handling, enough interior space, decent spec.
