Hi, I want to put my F15 on non-RFTs but don’t want to rely on an aerosol puncture repair solution. The car is on staggered 20” BMW wheels. I’m looking at buying a space saver to keep under the boot floor.

This site offers a spare that it says is compatible. Has anyone used one? Any issues or concerns? Will it damage my transfer box, differentials or Xdrive? People say you must use the same types of tyre on both axles so how can you run a wheel that’s 2” smaller than the rest on 1 corner, albeit for a short distance?

It isn’t about the wheel - it is about the tire and making sure your rolling radius matches the other. So - this will need deep sidewalks to match what I presume are 20” wheels on other axle…

It will be the same circumference as the 20" wheels. I have an older BMW which still has the spare wheel hole, filled with a space saver, it's never come out in the 16 years I've had it.

The other cars have cans of sealant and https://www.dynaplug-uk.com. I've never used them either!

Thank you, but it says “Suitable for cars with any size factory fitted wheels” so is the rolling tyre circumference of of an X5 the same whether it is fitted with 18, 19, 20 or 21’’ factory wheels?

I’ve got to safety or limped home on a deflated run flat a few times - maybe I’m unlucky with punctures. The big wide tyres seem to pick up a lot of rubbish. I’d be pleasantly surprised if I never had to use the spare, if I find one that fits..

You can calculate appropriate rolling radius when you spec space saver tyre to match yours
