I think my thermostat is tripping the RCD in my house. Only when the heating is on, and only if I make an adjustment to the temperature. At a certain point (18deg) it clicks several times, and then the heating doesn't come on, the pilot light in the combi boiler goes out. If I reset the RCD and change the temp to 19, it'll work fine. And continues to do so up until I want make a change.

It's an old school thermostat, not a HIVE smart thermostat.

What are my options, I suspect I need to change it, happy to do so, but would simply changing to a HIVE type thing be the best way going forward to cure the initial problem, and obviously enjoy the new tech. I would employ some one to do this fitting

If there's a leak to earth causing the RCD to trip, it might well be in the thermostat wiring, or the thermostat connections at the boiler, rather than the thermostat itself.

It would be best to have it all checked.

I the boiler ancient? Pilot light?

Yes pilot light, and this does go out once the RCD is tripped.

I'll speak to the engineer and see what he says.
