I am needing a fair few bricks for when I brick up my back door and replace a window with french doors, anyone know what brick this is as will be easier contacting reclamation places if I have a name for them?

House was built in 1934

Rough area location of the building may help the experts as bricks were often produced locally to where they were used.

On that thought, keep an eye out for local properties that are being demolished and grab/buy as needed.

It is possible to have bricks tinted if you don't find a perfect match.

The mortar colour will likely stick out as much as the brick.

House is West Wiltshire, it's strange as im in a row of 10 pairs of semi-detached and the pair next door are built with a different brick!

Is there enough to rescue from turning the window into a double door to then brick up the old door?

I had the very same brick on a 1936 Property in West Berkshire, couldn’t find a close match.
Also be careful because they look imperial size , newer metric bricks are smaller .

Sadly no, it will save a few ££s though, looked at a couple of local reclamation places and reclaimed bricks are between £1.30 - £1.50 per brick + VAT eek

And me in Beaconsfield on a 1938 house. Hand made bricks, I was told. No direct match and that was in 1986.

Have a look on Facebook marketplace. There's thousands, some are given away.

have been keeping an eye on there but usually the free bricks look utter rubbish in the photos or they want more than the local reclamation places

A reclamation yard is likely to be the best bet, and new brick is still likely to be 75p - £1 in low quantities so you won’t save much getting new ones. Indeed, you might find that a builders’ merchant will only sell you full pallets if it’s a custom order, whereas reclamation yards will sell singles.

If you take a couple along then you should be able to get a decent match if it’s a brick that was used a lot locally.

I might have struck lucky with FB marketplace, found an advert for 2.5k handmade bricks from 5/6 months ago so messaged asking if they still had some, they replied with "yes, all of them!"

Dimensions are imperial and similar to mine, first photo is my brick in direct sunlight, second photo is the new bricks.....

factor in mine have around 90years worth of weathering, they look a good match
