My mechanic asked me to source said items, any recommendations where to buy/ what I need? Not bothered about big brake upgrades. The car is asking me for some new brake fluid as well, any suggestions for that as well? Thanks.

I would ask your main dealer for a price to supply discs and pads. You may be surprised.
See if they can match the cost of the (good) aftermarket bits too.

I went through two pairs of ATE front discs on my M5 - both sets giving horrible judder after about 3000miles.
Went to genuine parts and they are been perfect.

I had assumed the ATE discs were the same as the genuine parts, considering it is a Treves brake system, but that does not appear to be the case.

Upon seeing the thread title I was going to say just the same thing.

I would also ask them for a quote to supply and fit. They are currently supplying and fitting E39 M5 discs and pads for £600, which is part of their promotion to offer service parts at 40% discount (if supplied and fitted). I suspect the price for the E60/61 is similarly surprising.

It's also worth getting quotes from a couple of dealers and pitching them against one another to try to secure a further discount.

Good advice, use it.

Thanks for the advice, I’ve twice tried to contact my main dealer using their online contact form but got no response, the wonders of modern technology! I may call in and try to arouse their interest.
