How do you know he got 60 years? and if he did, you think it seems too long?

Judging by the ferocity he launched into a totally unprovoked attack on what looks like a female officer, and judging by the calm way that child seemed to handle that degree of violence, that guy looks like he should have been locked up a long time ago.

60 years. God how I wish our lilly livered criminal justice system had balls like that.

I wonder if he would have done that to a 6 foot tall Male police officer

I would of thought 10 years would be appropriate. Unless the guy showed no remorse and no prospect of rehabilitation.

I have seen this video before and i have seen that the woman involved recovered quite well from the attack (broken cheek bone if i recall).

The 60 year sentence wasn't given just for the attack, the guy had an outstanding warrant, which was the reason he attacked the officer.

He'd already dropped her, no need to put in 10 extra punches to the face. The man obviously thrives on violence so 60 years seems about right, may stop the next thug doing the same.

And was that his kid watching it all too?

The guy had ample opportunity to run. Rather than do that he beat up a police officer. Not just knocked them down but pummeled them infront of his daughter. It's gonna take a hell of a lot of time to change someone like that! 60 years should do it.

The attack didnt look pre-planned, more a red-mist moment. Ive seen people do a lot worse, pre-meditated and get nothing worse than a ABH charge and a couple of months inside, in the UK of course.

Ours will start handing out sentences like that when prisons become profitable!

A lot of US prisons are privately owned and run at a very nice profit off the back of all the free labour!

Nice system eh? Sounds like another word for slavery to me!

I wish they'd do that here. Prison is supposed to be a punishment not a place of rest and relaxation.

Yes, but if there is a financial benefit for imprisoning us, we would all be jailed for everything!

Which is exactly why it'll take so long to "adjust" him. His animal instincts told him to fight. He didn't think about it. And thats why it'll take a long time to change him.

The Americans have the right idea on sentencing.

In many areas they also have a '3 strikes and your out' law, get convicted of a 3rd serious offence and it's life imprisonment.

How would it change?

Prison is no longer a punishment for the criminal so much as a way for the government to make money, and we know how much our government likes making money!

How do you fancy doing five years 'hard labour' for speeding?

rough justice if you ask me!

In the last 20 years in the US crime levels have stayed about the same but the prison population has doubled.

They imprison more people per capita than russia ever did!

Nad lets face it, most of them are black.

US crime rates have plummeted since the early nineties
