Just after a bit of feedback on these as I am at that annual cross roads near the MOT time with my existing N47 engined F30 where I think "shall I keep it another year or move it on before the bills start" - its on 110K miles now and I've had it nearly 4 years. anyway, the 330e F30 seems a logical upgrade as it will give me the ULEZ free usage I require for my football trips into London and remove some of the inherent diesel related risks you get with second hand cars. However, I can't help notice how cheap they seem to be in relation to other F30 models so I wonder if they are trouble? I seem to recall something on Geoff Buys Cars channel indicating the batteries give up the ghost making the cars worthless, but don't know how reliable this information is, as Geoff is a well known battery skeptic! So why for example are they so much cheaper than the equivalent age 328i/330i/428i/430i ??

the older 330e's do have a habit of stting their batteries, however the way it is designed the car still works ok but becomes a 320i with a heavy load.

I'd be wary of any old PHEVs as often the batteries dont have the same level of thermal/condition management as a full EV and go through alot more charge cycles due to their size meaning they can expire quicker.

Just keep the N47 and and maintain it properly. Better the devil you know.

Avoid these at all costs. When the battery plays up (when, not if) the car is bricked. Plenty of these are in trouble now and repair costs are equal to the car's value.

A B48 powered 320i or 330i is the best idea if ULEZ compliance is a must.

Thanks - I did wonder if they were a "lemon".

A B48 320i or 330i (or keep my N47 as Rottenegg suggests) - or maybe even a 320d/420d (I like the torque on the diesels and 80% of my mileage is motorway) with the B47 engine for Euro 6 compliance but maybe getting one where the timing chain has been done as i believe they still can let go even on these later models!
