The plugs that help secure my toilet seat to the pan have decided to destroy themselves, It's a Vitra 'D shaped' back to wall toilet and the plugs have fallen down their holes into the pit of oblivion below, never to be seen again, so I need to order more.

As I cant see what the plugs look like, would a generic kit such as this suffice?

Top right or bottom left looks like they might work - based on your description it sounds like a "top mount" where you screw the seat fittings in from the top because you have no access from below

I agree.

Any (most) top mount fittings will work as it's just the equivalent of a wall plug to screw a screw into to secure the seat fixing.

Correct, access only from the top, which is a pain as the water supply pipe to the filler isn't accessible either without pulling the toilet away from the wall.

Thanks, I'll get the kit ordered as a new Vitra seat is around £80!!

Fittings arrived, sadly they don't work, they seem too thin and just spin when tightening the screws. I

noticed part of the toilet seat is damaged so I've ordered a new one - £89 from Amazon!!! due to it being a non standard shape. Next toilet I buy will be a standard generic shape with open back to access fittings. Lesson learnt smile
