OK... good start... Handel; avoid the choral stuff. Best start with the concerto grosso.

2 relatively recent discoveries for me.

Blue Stones, they're a Canadian duo but don't let that put you off, their 1st album called Black Holes from 2015 is excellent as is the 2021 Hidden Gems.

Nothing but Thieves, you may even recognise a song or 2 they've done and the recent album Dead Club City is excellent but the earlier songs Amsterdam and Impossible are favourites of mine

They also did a series of short videos on the recording of Dead Club City which I enjoyed very much, ep1 here

Mmmm…. Give Mahler 2 a listen.
Put aside 90 minutes and 30 to bath in the glory afterwards.

So a couple from across the decades (said in a Smashy and Nicey voice! :-) )

From the 80s, give The Big Dish as listen, Celtic Rockers who should have been much more successful. In a similar vein, Love and Money are also worth some airtime.

From the 90s, Candlebox. Part of the Grunge/Nirvana scene but better in many ways (IMO) Their self titled 1993 album is superb. Never made it in the UK but were massive in the States.

00s.... Empire of the Sun: Aussie synth pop rock dance..... Superb range of stuff - bit of an 80s through back but with a modern twist.

More up to date....

Baxter Dury (Ian's son) - an acquired taste but worth a listen. If you listen to just one of his tracks, make it Miami!

Definitely these:

The only band I've truly followed right from the start when they were first on on a Wednesday at Chinnery's in Southend. Properly good.

And I"m currently finding it very difficult not to like Lola Young. Not my genre by a million miles but really liking what she's doing. Especially "Messy".

Enjoy

Del Amitri. Scottish rock band with a supremely talented writer and vocalist in Justin Currie. Lyrically they’re sublime - not a line is wasted, with each flowing beautifully to the next.

Glaswegian Beatles, but IMO much, much better.

Anything by Tommy Emanuel. Incredible acoustic guitarist who will be off the radar to most. It’s all beautifully played and recorded.

BLACKSHAPE by BLACKSHAPE. Clangy riffy instrumental post-metal, until the second to last track which has (clean, not Cookie Monster) vocals. The whole album builds to that track. A proper one-thing-from-start-to-end album - I'd say concept album but that always makes me think of prog and songs about wizards. Which this isn't.

Or, for something completely different, II by Kiasmos, which is lovely mellow electronica with orchestral bits. Their first album was superb too.

Blue Stones :-) I thought I was the only UK fan lol

I’ll suggest Black Pistol Fire as a rock option, and Sohn as a chilled option
