Just read in Auto Express that Porsche are to introduce a new SUV model that fits below the Macan.
The Macan will continue to be sold in EV form only but the new model will be petrol or hybrid powered.
I think that confirms that Porsche are struggling with selling the EV “dream” like most other manufacturers.
The CEO even said that it’ll cost them a bit (I’m assuming in fines for not meeting their EV targets) but shows that car buyers are voting with their wallets, despite what crazy targets Governments set.
If they price it correctly, I think they’ll have a winner.
Porsche are saying it will be here towards the end of the decade so it shows it is in the early stages of development.

I don’t like the idea of Porsche becoming even more mainstream. We’re already at the point of tatty old Macan’s chugging around.

I think that point has already been reached more like MB , BMW now! Too many models imho, should have split brand/naming and kept 911 and Caysters under the Porsche and a different name for everything else, bit like Toyota /Lexus

You mean like Audi? If anything, the really clever thing Porsche has done is to take Audis and selling them for more. Surely the most profitable side of their business. I would think repeating it again makes every sense for them, they know that playbook well, and I’m sure some easy money would come in handy about now.

Is it something to be excited about… no not really.

Have to agree with this.

My post wasn’t a celebration of yet another SUV but more of the fact that it will be petrol powered (not EV) as Porsche have realised that EV’s are struggling.
Personally I’m not a fan of SUV’s although we have a Macan (6 years old but recently purchased) - my wife’s car.
Porsche would struggle to survive if they didn’t build SUV’s as other manufacturers, so like them or loathe them they’re here to stay as the buying public dictate the market (unlike Governments who are trying to dictate that EV’s are the way to go).
It provides Porsche with the capital to build the sports cars we all love and what they’re remembered for.
