How to test what ethernet cable goes where
Discussion
I've just moved into a new house and the previous owner has the fibre box in the hall way cupboard and then has that going into a 24 gang network switch.
I'm trying to confirm that they are actually go to, as they didn't leave a plan.
Especially as there's 8 ethernet ports in the lounge alone.
Is there like a plug thing i can put in and then test what goes there.

Yes:

Plug each half in via a patch cable at either end and if connected the lights will cycle through.
Also has the benefit you can check the previous owner wired them up correctly.

This one works, and lasted about 6 months with a particularly dense apprentice, i swear that boy could break a f
king anvil if you told him it was important not to.
For a little bit more the klein is lovely. Build quality to last a lifetime.
