New kitchen and new oven and one is a NEFF combi which has a 600W microwave.

I didn't quite spot the 600W piece as NEFF don't exactly shout about it from the rooftops.

Anyway 600W seems quite weak when most packets of rice/ready meals/whatever tend to have instructions for 750-800W.

It doesn't seem like rocket science just increase the cook time a bit but I wondered if anyone has any tips or experience of the NEFF microwave?

It won't be used to cook cakes or anything where you see people using them for 20 mins.

I survived a microwave risotto by just cooking it for 5min when the pack said 4m30s for 750W.

I have the opposite problem with my Panasonic combi. It's 1000w so I have to reduce whatever it says on the cooking instructions. A bit annoying but not the end of the world.

We have a Neff Combi 850W. It does not seem to be quite as good as a stand alone, with a turntable, so I tend to always just add a bit of extra time on.

It is never really used for cooking, just defrost and reheating etc.

I think that you will learn its foibles quite quickly.

We have one, its a grill / oven / microwave / heating drawer combi.

No idea of power but you can select 600W or "Max".

I rarely use the microwave function as we have stand alone but when I do use it I would say performance is comparable to our 800W stand alone when on max mode.

Warming drawer on the other hand gets used nearly ever day.

I too have a Panny 1000W mw/oven/grill/steam combi. I tend to microwave food at the Medium setting as I just prefer a gentle cook rather than nuking it at the 1000W High setting. Takes slightly longer is all. Liquids I do at the High setting.

Yep, I bought a 1000W Panasonic inverter microwave a few years ago, and have probably only used full power a handful of times. It's too much for anything other than heating water.

Found that the 600W and 440W settings are generally more than adequate. Using a lower power for longer heats food much more evenly.

Your 600W machine will be absolutely fine.
