I need to clean a quite dirty (and alot of limescale and 'gunk') shower and glass doors, bath and sink.

Had a quick test with different things, from stanley blade to new scouring pad, seems like scouring pad and alot of elbow grease can clear alot of it, the worst areas a gentle scrape with stanley blade takes it off, I'm not using the blade on the sealant, only hard surfaces.

I'm o.f.a.k (old, fat and knackered), arthritis in knee, shoulder and hand, I wondered if I could make the job easier by using a scouring pad attachment on a drill?

Just a bit concerned about buying something that might fall apart in 2 minutes - can anyone recommend a brand or specific item they know / use?

I used some of these in my cordless drill in combination with some Cif, foam polishing pads, not great quality but good enough for the job in hand.

Easiest think (I know too late now) is to not let it build up and wipe the water from the glass screens with a window wiper after use.

How about using descaler first to remove the worst of it? Citric acid is cheap & safe to use (plenty of suppliers on Amazon & ebay) & if you want it a bit sticky rather than runny stir a bit of wallpaper paste in.

Whatever you do, don’t use a pad containing man-made fibres. Only use a pad made from pure lambs’ pubes.

Oh, hang on, this isn’t DetailingWorld, is it? Sorry - wrong forum.

Thanks for all the replies, it's for an elderly person who has reached the age where mobility is a big issue (walking frame), so just having a shower (undress, shower, dry, dress) means it's time for a power snooze.

They have the relevant aids to help, both in and out the shower, but things like wiping/cleaning the shower afterwards is difficult when you get to that age, it's hard enough to keep yourself clean.

It looks like doing the flat surfaces might be fairly easy, but wondered about the areas that are hard to get to, like the corners under the shower door, there seems to be a bit of muck in there, I was going to get the smallest wire brush, tried with an old toothbrush, which was about the right size, but didn't have much impact on the muck built up - this isn't the limescale on the glass, it's the brown stuff on plastic.

There's also a fairly healthy amount of black stains on the sealant between the tiles in places, gave that some grief with some cleaning products they had (flash spray on) and scouring pad, but it didn't even touch the sides, looked as bad as before I did anything too it.

if anyone has any hint or tips for that much appreciated.

JJ

Neat bleach. Leave it on for 30 minutes or so and then shower it off.

Apologies for dumb question of the week, but what does it smell of - presuming bleach/chemical type smell, or something else?
